Marla... this was fun. I remember we had a big push to get stores to promote adding a pastry to their beverage order. (All about the UPTs and Avg. Tix!!!) You’re right, I think you all won a “perfect pairing” date with Latte Nancy.
Heywood, as a croissant or cheese danish, had the best line of the show. Latte Nancy asked the pastry-testants, “What’s your biggest peeve?” Croissant Heywood improv’d a killer line, “I hate it when people try to butter me up.” Too good! -- johnmoore
I shared this image on Facebook a couple of years ago, but it's too good not to share here. I have fond memories of the creative people I worked with throughout my time at Starbucks. This picture is probably 1998 from a Mountain South conference. The field marketing staff working under the great guidance of Lisa Denney Compton put on the The Dating Game. Nancy Kane Asmus was likely a cappuccino - looking for a pastry love connection.
Did I win her affection as a maple cinnamon scone? Did Heywood McGuffee steal her heart as a cheese danish? Or did Bridget Barrett captivate her as a blueberry muffin? I don't remember who won, likely all of us...but this certainly brings back sweet memories...
Thanks for sharing, Marla and John! So many wonderful memories!
